Russell Brand Is Arrested -- And Katy Perry Parties!

Russell Brand was arrested on Friday afternoon -- but seems like it only made fiancee Katy Perry love him more! The comedian, 35, was arrested for battery after shoving paparazzi out of the way at the Los Angeles International Airport. As MTV News points out, Brand has been arrested 11 times in the past -- but never for physical violence. So what pushed him over the edge this time? 

Answer: the photographer was trying to take an upskirt photo of Katy Perry. And, as she tweeted later that day, Perry supports his actions: "If you cross the line & try an put a lens up my dress, my fiancé will do his job & protect me." In other words, Brand was arrested for defending Katy's honor! Swoon! 

Brand was released on $20,000 bail, and Perry proceeded with her weekend plans: A bachelorette party in Vegas, thrown for her by Rihanna! The two pop superstars and a group of friends started the party in the Hard Rock Hotel pool, where Perry wore a bridal veil attached to her bikini.

Later, they showed up a Cirque de Soleil performance, where Perry and Rihanna had their picture snapped backstage. The group of about 25 then spent a few hours at a VIP table at XS nightclub, followed by a nightcap at the Sapphire strip club (where a friend bought Katy a lap dance!). Perry, never one for dull fashion, wore a sequined polka-dotted mini dress and a miniature top hat with a veil and a "B" (for "bride," presumably -- or maybe for "Brand"?).

The superstar lovebirds plan to get married at the end of the year in India. We can't wait to see what she wears -- and we wouldn't want to see what Brand does to any invading paparazzi!

Katy Perry won't sleep in the dark

Katy Perry admits she is afraid of the dark, and has to sleep with the light on unless she is with her fiance , comedian Russell Brand.

The singer, whose new album, Teenage Dream, tops the UK chart, told Radio Times she feared something bad would happen if she was on her own at night.

"I think a lot of evil things go on in the dark," said Katy, 25. "I still have to cover my toes because I'm like that kid who thinks there's a witch under my bed who's going to eat my tootsies off.

"I sleep with lights on unless I'm with Russell."

Katy added she had given up a partying lifestyle.

"You have to have talent to make it work or the only thing you get out of it is free booze and no sleep, which makes you no good."

Katy Perry Clears the Air About Miley Cyrus/Britney Spears Comparison

A spy for Life & Style magazine allegedly overheard Katy Perry criticizing fellow recording artist Miley Cyrus at Canada’s MuchMusic Awards last month. The source for the publication claims to have heard Perry saying, “[Cyrus] is Britney Spears all over again. It’s happening right before our eyes. She’s definitely headed the Britney route. It’s worse, look at those outfits. It’s bad.”

In response to the allegations, the “California Gurl” tweeted to refute the claims and express her love for the 17-year-old celebrity. On her Twitter page, Perry wrote, “Rumor control: I never said s*** bout my girl Miley. I love that ho. Mags should stop pitting girls against each other. We all can co-exist!”

In the past, she has relied on her Twitter page to refute allegations and address topics that peak her interest. Perry generated publicity after Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” music video premiered when she tweeted, “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.”

According to MTV in the U.K., Perry, 25, was recently spotted publicly by the paparazzi as she headed to a Los Angeles gym. The recording artist recently signed a lucrative contract with acne treatment company Proactiv, but Russell Brand’s fiancée unsuccessfully tried to hide a breakout with a baseball cap and a large pair of sunglasses.
